KARIMNAGAR: Parents Unhappy with the birth of a second daughter, couple allegedly killed the three-month-old girl and dumped her body in the water sump in their house in Karimnagar.Accused parents were arrested and taken into custody later sent to judicial remand. Those parents reportedly strangulated the child, Cherry, and dumped the body in the water sump.Father, Nooka Ravinder, filed a complaint at the II Town police station on Wednesday that their baby was kidnapped by a beggar from their home. To cover up their misdeed and to mislead the cops, Ravinder and wife Swathi started telling neighbours how they missed their second daughter and how they were worried about her safety.
“They sketched the plan to perfection and got rid of her. They have a three-year-old daughter. They were upset with the second girl child’s birth,” an investigating official said. Though the cops filed a kidnap case based on the complaint, they suspected the role of the parents following their incoherent replies. They grilled the couple and searched the house on Friday. “To our shock, we found the baby’s body in the water sump,” a police official said.
“With Swathi confessing to the killing, we altered the case and registered it as a murder case,” Crime OSD D V Srinivas Rao said.
At the press conference, Ravinder, who works in a local factory, claimed they had decided to get rid of the infant as they were facing severe financial crisis. The child,he added, had brought ill luck to the family.
