A 14yold student put police on high alert for a few hours in Shamshabad on Tuesday. It later turned out that the boy faked kidnap to skip school.
At around 8am, Vinod Kumar, a class X student of Netaji school and resident of Airport Colony in Shamshabad, left for school along with two of his friends from the same locality, according to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport police. On his way to school, Vinod told his friends that he would follow them after a while. The boy hitchhiked to Shamshabad. He got down at Madhura Nagar bus stop and called his mother from a public telephone booth saying that he was ‘kidnapped’ and disconnected the call. Panicked by this, the student’s mother Manjula lodged a complaint with the RGIA police at about 11am.
Immediately, two police teams were formed to trace the boy. They collected a photograph from his home, took photocopies and handed them over to the teams. Since the call was made from Madhurangar, one team went there. The boy was found at a shop. On enquiry, he revealed his name. He admitted that he was not kidnapped and he only made a call to his mother to skip school
