Veteran actor Pankaj Kapur, who turned director with Mausam starring his son Shahid Kapoor answered questions posed by the media along with Shahid and Sonam Kapoor at a suburban multiplex in Mumbai on the occasion of the 'first look' of his movie. Mausam has already grabbed the attention of the masses due to the unique look sported by Shahid Kapoor, who plays the role of an Indian Air Force pilot.
The film, which claims to be a timeless love story, traces the lives of Harinder 'Harry' Singh (Shahid Kapoor) and his love interest 'Ayath' played by Sonam Kapoor from their late teens to their 30s. Shahid Kapoor, whose look reminds one of Hollywood actor Tom Cruise in Top Gun with a side parting and the inevitable aviator sunglasses joked about how he was not very comfortable initially sporting a moustache till his father and director Pankaj Kapur convinced him that almost all Air Force pilots have a moustache. The actor also raved about his experience of flying a F-16, one of the most advanced fighter aircrafts with the Indian Air Force.
The movie trailer, which started off showing a clean shaven Shahid and Sonam making shy smiles at each other in a typically rural Punjab setting went on to explore the streets of London and scenes from an Air Force base with a mustachioed Shahid in the garb of a fighter pilot. Overall, the film seems to have an old school look which might just click with the audience after a spate of yuppie urban movies.
Pankaj Kapur also said that he had thought of directing a movie since years and finally got to achieve his dream by making Mausam.
The movie hits the silver screen on September 16, this year.
